I have a pa system and it's hooked up to my car battery but to keep it from using the batteries power I have the red wire in the red conector and the black one connected to a price of plastic and want to know if it is still using batterie power

Both the red and black wires must be connected to the battery terminals in order for current to flow. If you have only one wire connected, this breaks the electrical circuit, and minimizes the rate of discharge for your battery. Keep in mind, that the battery tends to slowly discharge even without any electrical devices connected to it. Therefore, you should charge it whenever the voltage drops below (13 volts for a 12V car battery). A fully charged 12V lead acid battery should read 13.8V when checked with a digital voltage meter. Hope this answers your question.

The plastic battery housing should have + and - marks on it next to where the terminals connect. The + terminal is also a little bigger than the - terminal Also connect the + terminal first and make sure it's clean and tight. Then connect the - terminal You can touch the terminals without any problems, but I would still recommend safety glasses as a minimum. I wear gloves also.

Almost 100% will not be connected. One situation it could, though. IF the PA is made of metal and if you have it connected to a metal part of the car, technically it still would be connected since the car's body is connected to the negative terminal and thus would still complete the circuit.

Oh and incidentally, a 12V car battery static voltage is 12.6 volts. One lead acid cell voltage is 2.1V and there are 6 of them connected in series in a lead acid car battery that = 12.6V.

no/ if the circuit is not completed by grounding the black wire to either the battery , engine or body it will not use any power.

No, to use power you have to close the circuit.

NO!
