I recently bought a 2004 mazda rx8 gt model so it comes with a 6 speed manuel transmission. The rx8 was my dream car and it would of been stupid to get that particular car in automatic. I know the basics of driving standard and have been driving around my area but i always seem to stall it a few times. Should i pump the gas to get started or do i depress the gas slowly then release the clutch? Ive been pumping it to start off , then releasing the clutch.

Practice getting started without even touching the gas pedal, first. You will have to do this in a parking lot or something, and on level ground. You will have to let the clutch out very slowly, and the car will accelerate very slowly. This gives you a good feel for when the clutch starts to grab, and gets you to pay attention to the sounds and vibrations that tell you the car is about to stall. Once you are good at that, try starting off with just a little throttle. Your goal there is to apply the throttle only as needed. The engine should never rev up and down while doing this, but rise smoothly up as the car gets moving. Work on this a few times and then add more and more throttle until you can achieve a quick takeoff.

For the fastest takeoffs, you will typically put in enough throttle to get the engine up to something like 4,000rpm (maybe more in your RX8) and try to nail the throttle and let out the clutch with just the right timing that the rpm's stay exactly at that RPM until the clutch is all the way out. You can't do that a bunch of times in a row without overheating the clutch, but that's how it is done, more or less.

It takes time to get the "FEEL" of your clutch and accelerator! FIRST OF ALL get a few things done! Have your THROTTLE BODY and IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE cleaned up at ANY oil change place, and get a full POWER FLUSHING of your BRAKE and CLUTCH fluids! MUST BE UNDER PRESSURE! Think of the clutch pedal as an ON and OFF switch, except for FIRST GEAR! Try to hold the engine speed at about 1600 or so and LIFT up on the clutch slowly to see how it GRABS and at WHAT POINT! you wil eventually get the FEEL of the clutch grab point! If you do it right, you will NOT shake the whole car or stall it either! You LIFT UP On the clutch pedal as you depress the AIR pedal EVENLY! ( you do NOT pump gas with the pedal, only add AIR to the engine in injected cars!! I sure hope that COUNTRY BOY is NOT bragging about GM clutch operations either! OLDER ONES used a WEAK flex plate with a few SPOT WELDS that would break down on you over time and RUIN the STARTER and then some! EUROPEAN and JAPANESE designers are MORE SANE and use REAL METAL drive plates! and SOLID mass as well! POWER WASh your engine with GUNK ORANGE as well as this wil ALSO imp[rove the clutch feel as the heat of STEAMY WATER allows lubricants in the pressure plate and throw out bearing to re set i car sa a while! The RX* is VERY special as it is only 1.3 liters of space with only about TEN moving parts! It's VULNERABILITY is the apex seal on the triangular motors! They IMPROVE this material every year and you require SPECIAL engine oil as well! PLEASE READ YOUR MANUAL!!>>>AFTER YOU GET THE CAR GOING, THEN THINK OF THE PEDAL AS THIS on AND off SWITCH! never LEAVE YOUR LE FOO RESTING ON THE clutch pedal ever! tHE slightest PRESSURE HERE CAN ruin THE CLUTCH AND BURN IT OUT QUICKLY! PUMPING does nothing! You are just exercising your foot! You will get the "HANG" of it quickly as you drive it every day! It WILL become second nature for you! After a while you'll be able to get the car moving without even using the AIR pedal at all! GOOD LUCK!!

The ultimate way to be able to push the stay shift can be to have unfilled parking lot, some time plus a honest, affected person teacher. Force the particular Clutch i465 with all the way up with, and change the key to start the automobile. After establishing the automobile, at this point you should press the particular clutch system with and fit the automobile in to first equipment. When with first equipment, little by little generate the particular clutch system soon you feel the automobile to start relocating. You'll be able to feel the automobile get the particular equipment around the automobile. Once you think point, you'll be able to generate the particular clutch system.

First off, nice car! I always wanted one.

While depressing the clutch, you should be slowly pressing the gas. It takes a lot of practice, but with experience you'll get it right. Many people who first start out with a manual transmission have the same problem. Learn your car and it will practically drive itself.

Good luck!

Foreign cars have small-lightweight *flywheels, pressure plates and clutch discs bolted to the end of the crankshaft. They do not store very much *inertia "spinning" energy when the engine is running and you trying to launch it in low gear. Honest to gosh it's easy for an experienced American Car, standard transmission driver to stall a foreign car engine!!

Keep practicing. eventually you will get so you release the clutch and slowly step on the gas at the same time.

by it stalling your either letting the clutch out too fast and not giving it enough gas or your letting the clutch out too slow ! you have to get the feel of the clutch, where it takes hold at and at the same time how much gas to give it !

you depress the gas slowly while also releasing the clutch. no modern cars need to have the accelerator pumped

You don't pump, you coordinate.
