The interior light can be switched on by pulling the dashboard headlamp switch out wards.Push it back in and close the door and the light should go off?You are right about the locking.Hope this solves you problem

remove and disconnect the door switches one at a time making sure the wiring does not get trapped in the door frame close the doors and try the light, I suspect one of the switches isn't turning off which will show itself as being the one that allows the light to work properly. then simply replace the switch or in the short term leave it disconnected

Is a doorswitch wet, happened to me in France, 13 below freezing, switch froze up, doors froze shut, Beeping for 600 kilometres.

had a similar issue with a K-reg cavalier which turned out to be one of the rear door switched.

See if you can carefully disconnect them one by one to see which if any is your issue.

Good luck....

I had to resort to removing the bulb from the interior light for a while until I worked it out...

Or the dashboard dimmer knob is turned past the brightest setting.

This turns on the courtesy lights in many cars.

Light up the dash and dim it.

On a dark road they're supposed to be dimmed anyway.

As John K says or you have a faulty door switch, refer to another post on this.

Look in the owners manual and make sure that you are using the right switch to turn them off .
