2004 vw beetle convert. 1.8 turbo, 6 speed auto/triptronic trans. When car is cold shifts fine. about 10 minutes in to driving (not bad put noticeable) revse shifting 2 to 3 just a little. But on deaccel. shifts hard when going from 5 to 4. triptronic mode will work only from from park to triptronic, will work sometimes while driving. The PRNDS display on the dash will look like this going down the road [P][R][N][D][S] brackes around every gear selection and the numeric gear to the right will no longer display. auto mode or triptronic mode. Please Help I have no idea whats going on with this thing.

You need to have it scanned for faults in Transmission. You might have a problem with Tiptronic Circuit Board. It's located in the center console under the shift knob cover. I have replaced few of those and known to have problems. Good luck.

The first thing I'd do is check the fluid level in the transmission. If you don't know how to do this, any oil change place will check it for free but it really sounds like an electrical problem. There are 3-4 computers that work together to decide how/when to shift and what info is available to display. Could be as simple as a bad sensor (though you'd proly have a check engine light on), a bad computer, or a bad tranny.

I am no vw specialist but that sounds like an electronic control system failure to me - I would suggest a trip to the dealer for a situation like this.

On any major repair I recommend that you get 3 or 4 estimates from local service facilities unless you are lucky enough to have a shop with an absolutely stellar reputation available. Compare the estimates and choose one of the middle estimates. My reasoning for this is the low estimate either left something out or worse is deliberately giving a low ball estimate to get you in and then when your car is all torn apart they find all sorts of critically important things wrong with it which run your bill through the roof. Do the leg work and be an informed car owner. No reliable technician or shop will give an estimate for repair site unseen except as a budgetary estimate which will be a range from the middle average to the unusual high end possible.

maximum instruction manual transmissions have a detent to keep away from you from putting the shift lever in opposite. My 996tt this is the comparable trend because of the fact the Boxster, has an exceptionally good detent device. whether first kit and opposite are kinda interior the comparable corner, It takes an excellent attempt to get it into opposite. i don't think of you will have a topic.
