2005 Astra rear door will not open any ideas help plsss ?

I have a vauxhall astra 2005 estate, when i unlock my car the rear n/s door will not open, you can here it click and unlock like the other doors but when you pull the inside or outside handle the door will just not open, when you lock it you can here it click and deadlock and the same when you unlock the door, i am baffled can anyone help i've had the door card off but access is very restricted?????

what you hear is the electrical solenoid operating not the door lock mechanism,your lock would appear to be faulty further investigation is required with the door panel off and see what moves when handle is operated it may be nothing more serious than a detached linkage

What you will need to do is remove the door card and open the plastic sheet that covers the locking mechanism. Then operate the central locking and visually see what is going on. Its possible that either one of the little plastic clips has come off or that the links have stretched.

The solenoids on these are particlarly unreliable but not too pricey to replace although getting the door card off is tricky without a manual.
