I have had my 2001 hyundai accent in the shop on 4/14 to have the fuel filter changed because it has been a while since it has been changed. Well I got the car back 1 hour later and when I got in I smelled gas but thought it was supposed to smell like that since they were working with the fuel area so I didnt pay much mind. Well I drove it 10 minutes home and parked it for a few hours until I had to pick up my son from school. On my way back home this time my car was acting funny. It would not go above 25mph and felt like it was kicking back when I tried to go faster. Then at a stop light I applied the brakes and when i had it stopped the car started moving again even with my foot on the brake! I had to shift it into nuetral and then park to stop it. My car never had this problem before the filter was put in! Ok so I had it towed back to the dealership where the works was done that day and they said it needed a fuel pump so I had that replaced. I drove home and the next day it was doing the same thing again! I brought it back and they again said they fixed it and sent me home. The next time I drove it I noticed it was acting the same again so I drove it back and this time on the express way my car would not stop! I had to pull over and shift again into park to make it stop! I could have been killed! The dealer said he would have never sent me away with the car if he thought it was dangerous but 3 times this happened!!!!! They now have my car and said he would not give it back until they can pinpoint what is wrong with it.

I am furios! I have only paid for the fuel pump and the other time they did not charge me but if I keep bringin it back for the same problem should I have to pay because they did not fix it correctly? who do I contact because I could have seriously been hurt becasue of their neglagence? I am so angry!

Oh yeah and I asked the mechanic after the fuel pump was changed why the car smelled like gas and he told me he spilled gas on my back seat but he had it detailed and it still reaks! what can I do about this?

The thing to do would be to talk to the service manager if you have not already. If you have and nothing was done then talk to the owner of the dealership and I am sure you would get action. Hope this helps.

Seeing as the fuel pump isn't remotely near your brakes at all....whatever is wrong with your car, has nothing at all to do with what they did

It is likely that this is a new problem, and you're only blaming them, because they touched it last.

1. change mechanics

2. always get a second opinion

3. fuel pump had nothing to do with anything
