I Own a 1992 Jeep Cherokee it was sitting for awhile then I fix it but when I engage the 4x4 the car start to steer more to the right so am force to turn it off. Could it be doing it because the car was sitting for awhile and probably needs more time in 4x4 mode? To get the liquids flowing again.

In 1992 I think they still use universal joints in the front axle. The universal joint in the right wheel is probably seizing up from sitting and not being greased. This will make it stiff and cause it to drag or pull to the right. I do a lot of snowplow 4X4 trucks and have seen this before. Get someone to look at the front of the right wheel underneath the car/truck. You will see a little hollow spot where the axle comes through and goes into the spindle or wheel, the universal joint is there right where the axle pivots. In two wheel drive it doesn't turn, in four wheel drive mode the axle turns and will drag if it has a sticky universal joint.

If you drove it and it got better maybe have it checked or at least greased because this will force any rust out.

Hope this helped a bit.

Have the same problem after driving for awhile.....I just take some WD-40 and spray the Universals upfront...for like 3 or 4 days in a row...then the problem will go away....just an accumulation of rust.

for specific if your trans fluid leaked out then the terrific possibility is various of of your clutches overheated and welded at the same time. you could desire to take it in and get it serviced. impartial won't assist you because of the fact the snatch maximum probable won't be able to disengage. you could desire to be careful that an opposing snatch would not attempt to kick in quicker or later and reason a snatch combat wherein case your wheels could attempt to fasten as much as the transmission case.
