ok why u guys have to make the guy feel stupid ? here is a clue

if u hear putputput that mean ur car is going potty lol , potty ?

liek ur said ur car shut off then could be ur altenator went bad and the car ran on the battery .cause the car maybe was sitting for long time or could the battery got bad from sitting.

get a jumper cable hook it up and see if will start , now take the jumper off and if the car stay running that mean ur battery is shot, if the car shut off that mean u will need an altenator.

but it also could be the timming belt is bad. teh car wont start at all . good luck

as i been a mechanic for more then 12 years since i was 15 its all about experience......... good luck .

I really am very sorry but he got one over on you. Did you remember to have the truck looked over by a mechanic? (not one he suggested) Did he PROMISE the car was in tip top shape because if he did then you should give him a call. If he said that the car had a couple problems then theres nothing you can do. If he stated the car was perfect then go back to him and show him the problem and have him sign a promissory note stating that he will either fix the problem or help pay for the problem. GET IT IN WRITING! Get everything in writing, it its the best evidence in case of a lawsuit.

Sorry, but you may have gotten burned. If you don't know what to check for when buying a used car, you should have taken it to a mechanic to have it checked out. Now the problems with the car, are your problems. Sorry, I know how it feels...

well i love people that do this, however the problem is yours now. I would think it might be spark plugs going bad or wires. You can replace all this yourself and it might be the problem, whatever it is its timing or electrical. If you do decide to do plugs and wires i would go online and find out what wire goes to what cylinder.

You did have a mechanic look it over before you bought it being you're not a mechanic, right?

That's why the seller put 'sold as is' on the receipt.

could be spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, starter, battery, distributor cap and rotor... check them or have them checked!
