Question:
My tyre rim has come off?? I don't know how though?

So today I noticed that on my tyre the silver dish (think a rim) has come off one of my tyres, the other 3 are there it's just the one by the drivers front side. Could it have just come off itself and flown off while driving or has someone taken it?? I'm so confused.

Also is it dangerous for me not to have one?

Ps. As you can probably tell, I'm not too great with cars.

You are referring to what is called a hub cap or wheel cover. Hub caps/wheel covers are simply cosmetic. You could have very easily jarred it loose hitting a pot hole or similar road hazard.

You mean the HUBCAP, and yes, they can come off and get lost while driving. Especially the cheap crap that they use on Toyota's. No, it is not dangerous to drive like this.

Sounds like you're just talking bout the hub cap. It's not dangerous to drive with a missing hub cap but if you don't replace it the lug nuts will rust up and seize and won't be easy to remove if you have a flat tire some day.

A new one will be very expensive.

What you have lost is called a "wheel trim" or "hub cap". It is there simply to make a steel wheel look good, although it may also have a slight effect on reducing aerodynamic drag. It simply clips on, so it isn't difficult for them to work loose and come off. So long as the metal wheel and the tyre are free of damage, there are no safety issues with driving without a wheel trim.

If your rim fell off so would the tire and you would be stranded on the side of the road if you did not have a wreck. I suspect you are talking about and hub cap or wheel cover. It it just there for decoration and has no effect on the vehicle. Call your local Auto Salvage Yard and get a used one. A new one will be very expensive.

really you shouldn't be owning or driving a car, and please take someone with you when you go for service or repair

It is, or was called a hub cap. They do fall off occasionally but you can only buy them in sets of four unless you go to your local car breakers.

It is not dangerous to drive without one.
