There is a little tee shaped extension on the back of the jack that you turn counter-clockwise to release the hydraulics. When you want to raise the jack, tighten that release clock-wise and pump the handle. Be careful, when you release the jack it will come down fairly quickly. Release very slowly.

Turn the floor-jack handle counter-clockwise very slowly and the car will come down. Same with an upright "bottle" jack. You have a short jack handle that has a T-slot on one end. You will find a 1/4 shaft with a cross pin through it coming out of base of the jack. Carefully twist the cross-pin counter- clockwise and the jack will fall if it's under compression.

The way a hydraulic jack works is... The fluid is pressed into a cylinder, causing pressure and making the piston rise... this causes the jack to go up. Then when you release the jack.... you are releasing the pressure from the cylinder, which causes the piston to return to its original position.

There is normally a round pin with a small tbar at the end - if you turn this anticlockwise it should let the pressure out of the jack. Tighten it up again when you want to raise the jack again.

it depends. if it,s 1 of those little 2 ton jacks then there is a small valve down by where the handle goes in, turn it and it will let it down. but if it,s 1 of those big jacks you turn the handle.

Loads of different types of jacks .their should be a small screw valve . that you turn ANTI clock wise (as you look at it) then do it the opp way to close it TURN it slowly as you un do it
