I have a Rover 25 1.8 Gti, I just want to know what S.R.S. means and if it is a serious problem?. The car seems to be running OK.

I too own a Rover and this happened to mine.
Under the driver seat are the cables which connect the airbag. If you move the driver chair back and forth they can catch and pull apart which causes the SRS light to come on. It's a simple case of taking it to a garage and getting them to put the cable clips back together and it helps if they gaffer tape it together to prevent it happening again.
Whilst the SRS light is on it does mean that if you were to have an accident, it is likely the airbag won't be activated so please get it fixed.
Airbags only have a limited lifespan (I don't know how long this is though) and they should be changed after a set amount of years. However, Rover's being what they are, they don't have warning lights or anything to tell you this - it's up to the owner of the vehicle to ensure it is maintained properly. The only snag is that it is getting harder and harder to find Rover spares theres days.
I've found a great garage in Romford Essex so if you want their details, link me and email me and I'll send info across.

Why would it skip your turn? I know of a light in town that won't go over your turn (on a left hand turn on a divided) until the light cycles through with someone crossing past. Though it never skips, it just will never get to you unless someone crosses. I wouldn't recommend running the red, because it still is running a red. What you might consider doing is figuring out where the sensor for the light is, and maybe rolling the car back a little over it to try to trigger it. Though if this is a regular thing on a trip you may take often at night, I suggest maybe finding a slightly alternative route that avoids this issue. As some lights can have strange cycles at night. That's what I did to avoid the strange waiting for left turn light.

Try unhooking your battery and leaving it alone for a few minutes and hook everything back up, I'm not exactly sure how to wipe that cars memory I never had a rover but sometimes it could be a random code, that might go away if you try this. what it does is force the car to "relearn" stuff as it go's, if there really is a problem the light will be back. If that doesn't help you should seek more advise since the airbag is a safety feature.

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT
A warning light that looks like this or says SRS should NEVER come on unless there is a fault in your vehicle's air bag system (supplemental restraint system or SRS). Like the engine computer and ABS computer, the air bag control module runs a self-check every time the vehicle is driven. If it finds a fault in a crash sensor, one of the air bag modules, the wiring or itself, it will set a code, turn on the warning light and disable itself. You can drive the vehicle but the air bag(s) will NOT deploy should you be involved in an accident. You should have the problem diagnosed and repaired at your earliest convenience.

Seat-belt Restraining System, this pulls your seat belt tighter when you have an accident. Were common problem, check under the two front seats. You are looking for a wire that runs from the one side of the seat to the other. There will be a simple push fit connector on the wire, pull this apart clean up the connections and then re-fit the connectors.

Almost three minutes? Seriously? I know of more than one intersection where a single cycle is far longer than that. Now in the latter case, at least in my state, the vehicle code covers that. It's a malfunctioning automatic signal, and you may proceed when it is safe to do so. But is a cop - and ultimately a judge - going to believe it? Maybe so, maybe not.

Supplemental Restraint System (airbag). You might want to get it checked as it may be faulty, or perhaps, you may have turned it off.
Best to take it down the local garage and get it checked out, should be nothing serious, probably just a minor problem.

Supplimentary restraint system. There are various reasons why this code comes on--fault with crash sensor, wiring faults etc.The SRS warning light comes on in my car in relation to my air bag and when she,s not in the car everything is ok

it is an airbag light could be faulty airbag, seat belt tensioner or a sensor. Also you are supposed to have your air bag system checked every ten years (if its that old??) that may also be the problem

Yes its the air bag. check for trouble codes, that should give you an idea of the area of the problem

safety restraint system, your air bag is deactivated, get it checked out as it won't deploy in a crash when that light is on.

it is driveable, but your air bags will not work in an accident, you need to bring it to the dealer and have a diagnosis done, it could be bad sensor, seatbelt retractor, pinched wire, etc,

Red lights mean service me right away. check all vital fluids and take it to a dealer to find out what the light means. Amber lights mean service me when you can.

I did a little research. It means that something could be wrong with your airbag. Check your airbag.
