Question:
Immobiliser problems?

My boyfriend has a second hand VW Polo which came fitted with a scorpion immobiliser (probably installed by the previous owner). We have had a few problems before where the car has become unresponsive to the fob, however we have in the past been able to resynchronise the fob to the car.

On this occasion though we tried to resynchronise it multiple times but it didn't work. The only way to get into the car is to open the door manually which sets off the car alarm which you cannot stop. Also you cannot start the engine at all as when you put the key in the ignition it will not turn unless you press the button on the fob - which is currently not working. So basically the car is useless at the moment as we cant even start the car.

Apart from calling out a mechanic to look at it and remove the immobiliser is there anything else we can do?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

There's nothing worse than a badly fitted aftermarket alarm/immobiliser system. A 'mechanic' isn't going to be much use, you need the services of a good auto electrician and prepare yourself for a big bill, these things are a nightmare to fix.

Hi there, it sounds as the immobiliser is stuck on my advice is to take it out now if it was a the previous owner who fitted it it should be easy enough to take it out, just follow the wires and remember the colour of the wire most can be just disconnected without too much hassle, if the immobiliser is connected to starter solenoid it will probably ly under dash these wires will be the same colour, all you have to do is once wires are found disconnect alarm wires and reconnect original wires to starter then you should be ok, there alarms are notorious for failing, you can buy a replacement which is easier to fit and does the same job at a fraction of cost of scorpion alarms Jock abbasrest.org

First thing fit a new battery in your key fob and see if that helps .

Yes, you need an auto electrician to help you, because it's kind of not easy job. I really don't think that you can fix it by yoursef.
