where do I go to get a battery put in my car? Can I bring one with me?

I found a place that tested it, and sells the batteries, but they didn't know how to replace it, as the battery is kind of buried in the engine compartment. (PT Cruiser) Do I have to go to a repair shop? Does Les Schwab do batteries? If I buy one cheap somewhere and bring it along to a repair shop, are they ok with that?

Most auto parts stores will replace the battery in most cars for you without problems.

But, notice that I said "most." Auto parts stores will not replace batteries placed in unusual locations, such as under the rear seat on a Cadillac Seville or in the driver side fender on a Dodge Stratus or, in the case of your PT Cruiser, underneath the air filter box.

You can buy a new battery and have a repair shop do the work of installing it for you. There should be no problem there.

Yes, if you have a battery and take it to a repair shop, they shouldn't mind because they would be making you angry with them if they required that you buy another one and that would hurt their business.

However, there is no excuse for the store you bought the battery at to NOT know how to change a new battery. They usually are supposed to specialize in it if they sell it because it's not even that hard to do.

It only takes about a minute to do. Consider doing it yourself and reading your owner's manual. It's really not that hard as you think.
