I just installed an edelbrock carbeurator on my 85 trans am. The fast idle wont shut off and when i adjust it, it makes minimal difference. Also being that it idles too high, when i shut it off, it will keep chugging and for the finale it will shoot fuel out of the jets. What could cause this.
It runs fine. And when i take it out for a test run it seems to drive fine other then the idle being far too high.
Id call edelbrock but the service line is closed on weekends (go figure) and i need my car for tomorrow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

your mix screws will never have any effect if your not down into the idle circuit! now there are 2 reasons you wont be in your idle circuit. #1 curb idle adjustment to high. #2 choke not set right, and its running on the hich idle and not shutting off.

do you have the ac kicker solenoid? if so, it may be similar to a ford setup. they used this solenoid to adjust curb idle and when you shut it off, it closes the throttle butterfly acting as an anti dieseling solenoid.

I know your problem. I have experienced it many times and it took me days to figure it out after adjusting every thing I possibly could. The problem is your throttle return spring isnt pulling the throttle closed. Replace it with a stronger one. At any Auto parts stores they sell a set of return springs for under $10. I guarantee thats your problem if you've adjusted everything.
