I bought my 03 tiburon v6 auto about 7 months ago. I noticed within the first week that the speedometer began fluctuating sometimes and the cruise control would cut off when this happened. It started out being a rare problem but over the months it increased to quite often (several times a day). I attributed these issues to a speed sensor problem. Never had any other problems, however the radiator sprang a leak a couple months ago and we had that replaced and its working fine. A few weeks ago I was driving up the highway and all of a sudden the car jerked pretty hard and would not come out of third gear. I immediately took it home and havent driven it since. I have replaced both the input speed sensor and the output speed sensor. The problem persists and has actually worsened when the new output sensor is applied. When the old output is on, the car stays in third most of the time and will not shift into overdrive. When the new output is on, the car jerks more often and will not shift out of first, only if it is manually shifted with the slapshift. Then it only goes into second, no higher. It has jerky, delayed shifting. There are no grinding sounds or any transmission leaks, fluid has been checked and wires have been looked over. Nothing seems to be cut or rubbing anywhere. Could this be a transmission control module problem or simply a throttle position sensor? Any other suggestions?

yea there was a recall on battery positive cable i own a Hyundai or it could just be a lose wire in the dash also had happen

now the computer is probably resetting the transmission computer and its causing funky shifting since those have an adaptive feature

the third gear holding is limp home mode

your trans module relies on inputs on how your driving the vehicle it could very well be the throttle position sensor

you can replace that yourself for cheap its right on your throttle body and has two screws see if that helps

It sounds like its time for sparkling vehicle!!! whether those are all repaireable, #a million you prefer the tires balanced, examine the air stress and if that fails in line with risk a front end alignment. #2 those are 2 diverse issues, on the AC have a sparkling hose put in and the gadget serviced. The rattle with the warmth on is maximum possibly some thing in the vent (leaves, acorn) #3 Speedometer cable or sensor failing #4 take it to an upholstry save or a carpet save they might stitch it #5 Maaco, restoration it whilst its small and save money #6 examine and upload fluid to the transmission #7 see #6, additionally might have worn bushings in the linkage

remove the negative terminal of the battery for an hour. install it back on and drive the car and see if the problem goes away, if it does you have bad sensors. have a shop read your codes and replace what needs to be replaced. good luck.

TCM more likely. This should show up on the pcm/ecm as obd2 codes. Might want to have a look at what's registering before going further.

If it's got ZERO codes then it's probably the transmission itself...and this wouldn't surprise me. The hyundai transmissions (in most of their fleet) are weak to say the least.
