Question:
Removing Battery in 07 Monte Carlo SS?

Anybody have any tips for removing the battery in a 2007 Monte Carlo SS? I have removed the cross bar, unhooked the battery, removed the bar at the base of the battery that holds it in place. I also unhooked the fuse box to try and give me more room.

I can move the battery around, but can not get it out. I've managed to get it almost on its side, but then it hits the fuse box and gets wedged against the front frame. There isn't any slack in the lines to the fuse box, so that can only move so far. There needs to be about another inch of room and it would make it a hell of a lot easier.

I read some suggestions about removing the head light, but I don't really see how that would give me more room. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Yep, they are pretty damn tight on the Monte with the LS-4 V-8! But the trick is to actually unbolt the positive cable (heavy red cable that goes to the fuse box) from the Junction block (Fuse box) and this will allow you to reposition the the junction box far enough away to get it out!

NOTE: The LS-4 V-8engine Monte (SS) is a lot harder to get out than a 3.8L V-6 (LS) Monte!

Found these instructions on a Monte Carlo forum:

"...you have to remove the black brace that goes from the fender area to the front of the car at an angle. Then I took of the fuse cover, just to get it out of the way and give myself more room to work. Then you literally have to move the battery toward the engine, and lift it at an angle to get it out. It took me a few trys to finally remove it, but I got it. Then same thing putting in the new one"
