High performance tires do not last too much. The same happens with cheap tires.

4 sets of tires in 60,000 miles would be absolutely OK for an M5, but yours is not one of them. While nice, 528i is not the highest performance 5-series. If it has optional sport wheels and suspension (in short, M5 tires), that could be the answer.

If not, maybe you drive (and corner) too hard or need more frequent wheel alignments.

Tire rotation is not essential since yours is a RWD car. For some models (check your owners manual), BMW even recommends not rotating them at all. Some BMWs even have different sizes for front and rear tires.

Good luck

OK Guys thanks for the effort, However, there are too many irrelevant guessing and assumptions. Are you ready to be educated?

Here we go: 1. I drive conservativly and very skimpy on my brakes. 2) You can even say that I baby my car. 3). I do not make jack rabbit starts, rip around corners and I get 27.6 MPG combined city/highway. 3). I usually get 70,000 miles on a set of michilin with lots of ride to go. 4). My car is always in tip top shape in every respect. My tires are Bridgestone Potenza installed at approx $500 .00

No front end, tie rod or ball joint issues. The BMW dealer basically told me to enjoy the ride from my $5,000.00 worth of sports suspension options. Thats when he lost me!

My Research led me to a mechanic who knows suspensions and particularly BMW and Mercedes Benz. The problem was the BMW Dealer-- Not the Car. They make a lot of money selling tires and deliberately set up the car with Excessive Negative camber. They told me that it is within specs. They wont change it, citing that it will lead to suspension and front end problems. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

I trusted this mechani over at Tire Plus he adjusted the Camber to something slightly negative. About 10 percent of what BMW told me and replaced the tires at 64,000 miles. My tires are now about 50% worn with 103,000 total miles. They wear evenly and the ride is still great.

I Love this Car!!! BMW has zero credibility with this BMW owner.

Makes sure the steering as well as all wheels are aligned, improperly aligned tires experience abnormal and increased tire tread wear (this needs to be checked by a mechanic) make sure the mechanic checks the tie rods and ball joint during this process (they almost always have to in order to do the alignment), the rims/wheels should be balanced as well. Also make sure the tires are properly inflated all the time, don't over or under inflate them, the amount of pressure in psi's should be on the driver's door sill and you shouldn't go under or over that rating by 2-3 psi, otherwise you will notice increased wear, and if it is higher your ride will begin to become bumpy. Also halfway through the life of those tires should should get a rotation done, to allow even wear on all the tires. I also suggest next time buying tires with special tires will usually feature a harder tread compound that's indicated by a higher UTQG treadwear indication figure (usually over 700). In addition, they may focus on low rolling resistance tread designs that not only maximize a tire's life but also improve fuel efficiency. Most of the time, BMW puts high performance tires on their cars for better handling at high speeds especially on the 5 series, most people don't really need that, you should get a set of tires from here that fit your make and model perfectly:http://www.tirerack.com/

Best of luck

Has this car been in any accidents?? Did you buy it new or used? If used there is a possibility that it may have been in an accident that was either poorly repaired or impossible to repair but half done to the point where it could be sold and be someone else's problem.

I do like the answers the other posters gave here.

There are many people who buy cars from an insurance company and fix them up to be sold. Some are good some are very bad. I once purchased a 88 Chrysler that had a salvage title. It had been totaled in an accident and it ate tires like crazy. I had the wheels aligned but each time the mechanic told me they did the best they could but it was not possible to get it aligned correctly. The cars body had been twisted very badly in the accident. I did not pay much for that car and I got what I paid for.

I unloaded the dirty dishwasher yesterday and was almost finished before I realized I had pureed green beans on my finger. I looked down at the dish I was holding and realized I had been putting dirty dishes in the cabinets lol. I had to wash most everything I owned because the dirty dishes I put away got the clean ones dirty. And another, on my way home from work yesterday I got off at the exit to pick my son up from daycare, took all the right turns, and was just about to pull into the driveway when I remembered Grandma keeps him on Tuesdays. DUH! I'm just glad I didn't walk up to the door to pick him up...then they would have thought I was really nuts! lol I have more...I'm really quite an airhead lately lol Edit: OMG, Glad I'm not the only one who goes around frantically looking for my son who is also not yet mobile! lol I did that the other day...put him in his playpen, went to start his bath, then went in to get him out of his crib and almost had a heart attack when he wasn't there. I searched all through his room (like in the closet and everything...don't know how I thought he could be there?) Then went downstairs frantically yelling at my boyfriend that I couldn't find the baby, only to see him sitting there in the playpen. I felt dumb...haha

If you're running high performance (low tread wear rating) and driving aggressively, that can quite easily be normal.

High performance tires have a softer rubber compound used in order to grip the road better and will last a much shorter amount of time than normal tires.

probably twisted body or bent suspension if all four tires are wearing BUT rotating tires on modern cars like that wrecks them, if you are rotating them that is the reason you must not rotate radial or directional tires

Try rotating them periodically...and buying better tires...and get an alignment...and quit doing burnouts in the parking lots with your buddies

15000 per set sounds pretty good for that car.
