I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra, I noticed the air was blowing kind of warm so I got a can of R-134a and tried to charge it up some, instead it made matters worse. Now it blows cold air intermittently, most of the time it blows warm air, then a blast of cold air will come out for like 2 seconds then it is gone. Anyone know what is wrong? How to fix it?

mememe- there are several causes that will produce the symptoms you have. Does the compressor engage when you turn on the a/c? If not, look for the compressor cycling switch (sometimes called a low pressure switch). This is what allows power to the compressor to engage the clutch. It is usually located on the side of the accumulator, the silver can on the firewall with the pipes coming out of it. Remove the wire connector from the switch and jumper the wires on the connector. A bent paper clip will work. If the switch is failing, the jumper will allow the compressor clutch to engage and if there are no other problems, you will have cold air coming from your vents. Unfortunately the only sure way of diagnosing the problem correctly will be with the use of a good set of manifold gauges along with some other tools. The high and low side pressures reveal a great deal of information that is not available otherwise. I understand not everyone has the necessary equipment, so we often try to work with what we have, regardless of what others may think.

What's wrong with it is..."so I got a can of R-134a and tried to charge it up some".

Now the ONLY way to fix it is to take it to a certified AC technician to straighten out the system.

Novices should never try to "fix" the AC in their cars, it usually always gets messed up more.

Not enough or too much refrigerant and you have problems. They shouldn't even be selling those cans of refrigerant.
