Im looking at getting a crate 383 stroker from summittracing. Iv already got 2.02 heads ported and polished, roller rockers,a Comp 480/480 lift cam,Holly 650,Pete Jacksons noisy gear drive, higher spark distributor. What would be a good GUESS on my Horse power to the flywheel be?

Why on earth would you buy Heads, Rocker Arms, Cam and so on and then "look" at buying a crate motor? You're kinda' defeating the purpose of the "crate" motor option, which is - buy it, drop it in (optionally put your favorite carb on), and start it up! Any crate motor will give their tested HP and Torque specs, no guesswork involved! Or, are you talking about a short block? In that case, with the limited information available, all HP answers will indeed be "guesses" and of no real value. But I'll play along, if you don't screw-up your short block build, you'll get 425HP @ 5400 RPM just like the GM ZZ383 crate motor.

Edit: "Dyno" testing does indeed give you flywheel Horsepower, the "Chassis Dyno" gives you rear wheel Horsepower, and a loss of 20% or more is not uncommon from flywheel to rear wheels...Rpm x Torque divided by 5252 equals Horsepower.

May I give you some friendly advise? Why not consider the part number: 12498772, ZZ 383 crate motor from your local Chevrolet dealer? It features a 24 month or 50,000 mile warranty. This motor along with the suggested Chevrolet intake and carburetor will crank out 425 hp. and 449 lb.- ft. of torque.

Every part in this motor is factory fresh 100% brand new. The camshaft is a hydraulic roller with the following specs: .509 intake lift. 528 exhaust lift. Camshaft duration: 222 degrees intake, 230 exhaust.

Aluminum roller rocker arms, 4340 forged steel crankshaft. Rods Heavy duty PM Steel. Hypereutectic Pistons. Four bolt main block. Fast Burn aluminum cylinder heads. 9.6: compression ratio. That alone means you can run this motor on street 93 octane fuel!

I'd also suggest you pick up a copy of the 2008 GM Performance Parts Catalog from your local Chevrolet dealer parts counter for a messily $5.00. The part # for this catalog is: 19202324. You'll enjoy leafing through 448 pages loaded with standard replacement and high performance GM parts.

Go to http://www.dsm.org/tools/calchp.htm There is a simple calculator based on the weight and acceleration and it will give you an approximation.

Difficult to say until you get it on a dyno.
