Ok I need help big time. I put too much engine oil in my car and it is throwing out HUGE white plumes of smoke. I mean GIGANTIC smoke! This is scaring the hell out of me. How do I drain all the engine oil out? I read somewhere that they sell something that can drain the oil out through the dip stick so you dont have to go to the bottom of the car. What is this device and how much does it cost? Please help....

There is a drain plug underneath on the oilpan what kind of car is it ps. you might want to go get new spark plugs and have your compression checked because oil can foil your plus and ruin ur rings

THe safest way is you have someone else do it, LOL. I work for Oilstop Inc. I have changed thousands of oils. And its something that is simple, but if you dont know what your doing, dont do it. Do it yourselfer's with little knowledge are likely to over torque their drain plug on their oil pan, which can strip the threads. If your lucky that means a new drain plug, if your not that means a new oil pan. SO alwyas use proper torque and tools, no pliers to hurt the plug. Also make sure to use a new seal on the drain plus, or if not make sure the old seal is good. If not you'll get leaks on the pan. You can get new one's at any auto store. Then theres the filter, a common mistake is leaving the secondary seal on. All filters have a seal on them which can be left behind if put on to tight. SO always make sure the secondary seal is not on the block, and that the filter mounting stud is in and tight. Then theres filling. If you underfill you can harm your engine, and if you overfill you can blow a head gasket. So always make sure the reading is perfec. A good rule of thumb is on small 4cylinders go to 3.5qts of oil, run the engine and then see where the reading is. On larger engines start of with 4 or 4.5. Good luck, and remember you can get it done professionally, but stay away from 10min oil changer's. The faster they go, them more lickly you are to have a problem. Let them take teir time to do it right, and always use the manufactures recommended oil's and torque on the drain plus. Good Luck.

Don't try to use a pump to get the oil out. It is extremely easy to drain your oil. There is one (only one) very easy to find bolt on the bottom of your engine. You don't even need a good wrench. You can remove it with an adjustable wrench or even pliers. If you are worried that you might remove the wrong bolt, go to the library and you can find a Chilton's Manual that will show you a picture of it.

Just be sure not to get under the car when it is supported only by the jack. Block it up with something. (a cinder block or your spare tire will work)

Also be sure you have at least a 5 quart container to drain the oil into. A cat litter box works well.

If you don't like to drain exceed oil through drain plug at engine bottom (recommended) , get plastic flexible transparent tube 1/4 inch ,3 feet length , insert a fuel (gas) filter (transparent) at approximately middle of tube .

Put one free end deep in dip stick opening , suck from the other tube end until oil fill the filter , take tube away from dip stick opening and purge oil in container , repeat until reach correct oil level in engine . Good luck .

Go under your car there should be a plug on the side of your oil pan take a wrench or socket to that unplug and plug do this and recheck but since your down there might as well change it. drain then refill but after the 3rd qt add and check.also change filter with oil.

you can get a pump from the auto store and drain some out of the dipstick. But really, you should go under and drain from the drain plug. You don't want to get a plastic tube stuck in the dipstick.

Are you sure it's because of the oil? Smoke from burning oil usually looks bluish colored. White smoke usually indicates water....
