its an ex police car done just over 180k miles(2006), bought it for £1200 and spend about a further £1000 getting alloy wheels, alternator, starter motor and done extra small things... ive fit a £200 radio as well. so roughly i've spend £2500 on this car! however, the car wont start and the mechanics said that the engine wont turn over and there is a possibility that the head gasket is blown and might of damaged the engine which then they advised me on rebuilding the engine! they mentioned that it will cost £2000 MAX. Or should i get a new engine for £700 that has 20k miles on the clock and let them put the whole engine in?

Selling it really isn't a realistic option at the moment if it the engine doesn't even run. You would get next to nothing for it. Scrap price or perhaps slightly more. Rebuilding at that cost makes no sense.

Buy the low mileage engine and have it fitted.

Ha. As usual classic 'pearls' of advice from the Bearface !

The £ 700 engine option seems to be a 'no brainer' given the situation you find yourself in.

Pity you didn't sort this out before spending £2k on boy racer crap for a 180k mile car !

Oh dear, Dr Bear seems to need medication and or therapy for his negativity

The £700 engine will be a good idea so lnog as the other running gear like the brakes, suspension and steering are all good

Hi so what pissed you to buy a car with such a lot of miles on it because it had been a police car i suppose. well ordinary police cars like this are not tuned for performance usually full of sick and snot left behind by those being taken to the nick.

especially in the back seats.

so it is knackered so get hold of a set of original wheels a cheap radio and any other Accessory which may have been replaced. take off the good stuff and sell it as soon as possible.
