Question:
My key wont turn the rest of the way?

I bought a stereo for my 2005 Ford F150 and after trying and failing to set it up my car wont turn on, the key wont turn all the way. When I put the key in the ignition switch it does turn on the control panels lights and makes the sound telling when the key is in the ignition still when you have the door open.

All I did with the stereo was take it out of the box, read the directions and it said to remove the negative cable from the battery prior to taking anything apart. After I did that I tried to figure out how to take out my stock stereo but I couldnt figure it out so I just quit. I put the cable back on the battery and tightened to the grip it was before when it did start. Thats it though.

Is my computer messed up, or the ignition switch fried somehow? Please give me some steps or something to fix it myself. I cant get it out of the driveway to get it repaired and I need to get to work on my own.

Lol man I don't think you messed anything up, I think your steering wheel is locked. Wiggle your steering wheel pretty good then try to turn the key. If that's not it, then there's a lotttt of things that could be wrong. It won't be your ignition switch or computer though, i guarantee that because if your dash panels light up, your ignition switch is doing its job and the computer is telling the lights to come on. Don't listen to people that give you advice that start out like "I'm not a car guy, but.."
