Changing gauge cluster, the miles don't match.?

The gauge cluster in my 97 Honda Prelude is messed up. The previous owner tinkered with it trying to install these blue lights on it and now the back lights don't work. I've tried to re-sit them but the problems seems to be bigger than that. I saw this gauge cluster on craigslist but the problems is that my car has 150K miles while the craigslist cluster has 112K. I really wanna swap with the other one but I don't wanna get into legal trouble or be immoral since I plan in selling the car next spring. Is there a way that I can swap the two clusters legally and morally? I have no intentions of tricking the next owner. It's a real pain driving at night, I have to use GPS speedo on my phone.

you can swap the parts that you need leaving most of the original gauge cluster intact. the part that shows the mileage can be kept or put into the new cluster. you're best bet may be to look into a prelude forum. The second cluster is also a great place for a one stop shop on all the parts you'll need. Love to hear that you've got the morals to care. Second option is you can go to the local honda and ask them if the could make it match. Being that they have to replace parts for a certain time they may be able to help you or point you in the right direction. third option is to put the least annoying indigo gauge's in the car creating a source of light when you're driving at night. They make them in bright , reverse (so the numbers only shine) , multiple colors too. I hope that I was able to help you

you can change it if you want , just tell the next owner the original miles on the car, the only people that would care legally about the mileage is the state. just depends on the number of owners before you. if you are the second owner then you can get away with it through the state because the title will have the previous owners miles on it when it was bought new

Contact your nearest honda dealer, if the car is new enough some dealers can set the correct mileage for you. Im not too sure how far back honda is able to do it
