I am trying to add a home made heater to a skid loader, and i have a heater core from a 95 astro van. can i run oil through an aluminum heater core instead of antifreeze?

Yep...you can use it as an oil cooler just make sure to get the right fittings to make it work and not leak at the inlet and outlet. The piping inside the heater core should be fine to run oil through.

There should be no problem running oil through the heater core. It's designed to function as a heat exchanger -- run hot fluid through it, on the inside; then put some colder fluid on the outside, and the heat will be exchanged from the warmer fluid to the cooler fluid. I would expect no problems with materials of construction / compatibility when you run oil through it, rather than anti-freeze.

I believe u can do it, but what is ur purpose? Many people use oil cooler to cooling oil, why u use oil heater? If u stay in cool region, u can use low viscosity oil. Basicly, u can as long the fitting is match.

I suppose you could use a heater core but they make one just for that purpose.
