#1 get locking gas cap! #2 make sure hood can't be opened- (keep car locked if possible), -- otherwise a chain and padlock will keep it from being opened! #3 When getting ready to drive away, Jam down "hard" on brake pedal, and hold for ablout 30 seconds, -- if the pedal does not go down-- if it holds steady, no brake lines are cut! #4 Make sure you have a good functing parking brake at all times! # 5 Do a "walk around car" before driving and check tires and look for anything amiss! By the way, if you keep cleaned up, - look for sumdges on wheel covers, -- (may have had hubcaps off and loosened lug nuts), -- If it is like mine, (always very dirty), -- look for "cleaned spots" on hubcaps! #6 One other thing, -- check for warter under front-- I guess with effort a person could puncture radiator, - whic would then drip of course! ****This is equivelent to a "preflight inspection" that a pilot One does every time he drives the car! (pilot also checks fuel and oil, --(as well as all the engine compartment -- which you have protected by being chained shut!)
Now all you have left is tires, glass, paint, - and lights, (and lenses_! You should catch these on "walk around"... and of course,-- you touch nothing then, and call the police, - and let them deal with it!
Note, -- for sugar to do damage, it really has to get into the induction system! It generally doesn't dissolve in gas, so will get trapped in fuel filter, - and plug fuel lines so car won't run! It does more or less thesame as sand! Both are a pain to get out of gas tank, -- if it is really "thick", -- and will not go down lines! Locking gas cap will prevent this! If this is a "she" that you are talking about, --probably will be too lazy to get underneath and take drainplug out! Most late model cars very close to ground and hard to get under! ---- Also if the plug is just left loose (to fall out later),- you should see a little puddle of oil on ground, as the "seal" to oil pan is compromised and it will drip!
