Has anyone bought car parts off EBAY? what has your experience been? Bought a saturn for my son, the reverse is out, otherwise it is a beautiful car, for $1125. Looking into transmissions, used. Found one with a 90 day warranty. Isnt that about the best you will get on a used part, or am I dreaming?

I have purchased a few parts from eBay. Some have worked, while others were blatant lies. With something as expensive and important as a trans, I would recommend Auto Zone or similar. Either that, or just take it to a local repair shop. They can usually find a decent deal for you at a salvage yard. Don't take chances with eBay; there are a lot of crooks mixed in with the great deals.

I think it's better if you buy from direct manufacturer or supplier of auto parts. Not only that they have the stocks you need available, they can also give the car parts at a discounted price. Go and check out Prime Choice Auto Parts and let me know what you think of them. Hope this helped.

Used transmissions are a big risk ----- The big picture is not so much the transmission but the labor cost to swap them........ Any non dealer mechanic will probably charge $400 just to swap them. Then what if its bad or goes bad??? Then your dumping more money in it. If you are doing the work yourself and dont mind taking the time then by all means get the used one...... On the other hand there are guys like me that wont put a used tranny in..... My trans went bad in my truck..... I pulled it out and sent it out for a complete rebuild. The rebuild was $650 out of the truck. I paid a helper $100 to assist me...... it was worth every penny. I got 5 more years out of it before some idiot rear ended me... With used trannys its like a gamble? Who knows how many miles are really on the used transmission you buy!

just find one used one in a junk yard if you rebuild is gonna be really expensive you can get one for about 500$$ and that's a good one because is for a Saturn do not listen to all the negatives about used transmissions not all the used parts are crap... Saturn is cheap so a 500 $$ transmission for a Saturn is good... if you take it to a shop how do you know the transmission has being rebuild? what if they just fix the reverse and charge you the rebuild job? it happens to me before

I wouldn't by a big ticket item such as a transmission. You have no recourse if the component is faulty. Are you prepared to spend $500 in freight charges if the item is junk. I would recommend to pay a little extra & have the transmission rebuilt with warranty.
