I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie 5.9L C VIN. How can I verify if I have a 12 valve or 24 valve engine? I need to order some parts and want to verify I'm purchasing the right thing.

If the 8th digit in VIN is "C", you have a 5.9L I6 Turbo Diesel 24-valve High Output engine.

Take the Vin # to the Parts store. A good Parts Store can look up the specs on the car from the vin #

well aside the vin number showing exactly what engine you have, there is a stamp on the heads. if that's grungy or groung away, pull a valve cover and count them

theres 2 valves for each cylinder so it would be a 6 cylinder if i thad 6 valves which would be a inline 6

if its in the shape of a v its probabaly a v8 or v12 oh and a 5.9l is a v8 so 16 valves

Read your owner's manual or look up the VIN number on the internet. It's the number on top of the driver's side dash under the lower edge of the windshield.
