Will a replacement cluster read vehicle mileage or the mileage of the cluster?

I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche. The speedometer is broken (When I'm stopped, it stays between 60-80 and when I'm driving it just spins until it hits 120). If I purchase a new cluster and install it, will the mileage on the cluster reflect that of the vehicle?

I noticed wherever you try to by a cluster, it will state the mileage on it. Which leaves me to believe, the mileage that show up will be from the cluster installed.

It may just be the speed sensor located on the transmission\

I rather have a diverse situation... my device panel went out in my motorhome and that i could no longer locate the funds for $600 for a sparkling one, so i offered a used one - thoroughly forgot with regard to the odometer till the used unit arrived. the recent device cluster exhibits much less miles than the only i'm changing, So my question is; is there a thank you to make the only I only offered adventure the only which i'm changing. i won't locate the funds for to spend $100s of greenbacks for somebody to try this for me, yet i p.c. it to be suitable.

The mileage is stored in the gauge cluster itself not the car. So the gauge cluster will reflect the mileage it currently is on.
