I have heard many horror stories of people getting screwed over when getting a tune up, especially in my small town. and was wondering if there is a particular chain to trust, or that I should not trust? How much is an average price? Are there any good or bad signs to watch out for? I've never done this before and after everything I have heard I am really nervous.

most of the smaller shops can do a good tune up on the car at a really reasonable price, this is one job that doesn't have to be done at a dealer,an average price can be any where from a 100 bucks to three hundred bucks,it just depends on what all it needs done, the best way to do this is take it to a few places and let them price doing the job,and then compare prices, and also have then explain what their going to do in the tune up,this way you,ll know what your getting, and how much it will cost you, good luck with it.

Ask your friends, neighbors employees at the Post Office, etc..

In our small town there are couple shops plus the Chevy dealer. We go to one of the shops, he is a one man operation, and doesn't work weekends. He fixed an issue caused by one of the national chains on one of cars, and we have been loyal since. He used to work at dealership in the city, before starting his own business, and is ASE certified.

The large chains are hit and miss, mostly miss. They rarely have experienced people due to low pay scales.

you ask other poeple you know where they take there cars... fine two or three tell you the same place and like the other guy said big name places and dealers would be the last place to go.. and there is a few things you could do that should be done ever few months that do not cost a lot and will help save your car .... the best way to know your car is to go and buy a book about it you can get one at about any auto parts store and learn about the things that need to be done and you can do a few your self....simple things like a air filer maybe a spark plug.... knowing your car helps get yourself a repair manual

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

YOUR SHOULD GET YOU VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FIRST AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

CHAIN STORES ARE PAID OFF COMMISSION SO IT IS THEIR JOB TO TALK YOU INTO AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND THE SAD THING IS FIRST, YOU DON'T NEED 90% OF THE STUFF THAT THEY SAY.

CHAIN STORES ONLY HAVE PARTS RE-PLACERS THEY DO NOT HAVE QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS BUT THEY DO HAVE THEIR CERTIFICATES ON THE WALLS TO SAY THAT THEY ARE.

The best place to go to obtain repairs and service to your vehicle is the vehicle's dealership. Dealership are generally more reliable because the absolutely depend on customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Dealerships also have better trained technicians for your make and model.
