I have a 2004 astra 5 door. One of the rear doors will not open at all, either form inside or out. All the others doors function as expected using the remote. Any ideas on how to fix?

sorry timbo have too disagree with your answer if this car is an astra h it will have a control module in each door thats the joy of the can-bus era so a battery disconnect may succeed but i would have a good look at all the fuses in the car whilst the battery is disconected pay close attention too the fuse box in the boot! failing that you may need too forceably remove the door panel to check it is common on the astra g and h for the connection at the b post to the door too let in water and corrode

Not an ECU problem as the doors are not controlled by the ENGINE management system.
This is a tough on to deal with and you may have to break into the interior of the door from the inside to release the lock/latch.
You will then be able to investigate if it is a power problem or a mechanical problem or has the solenoid that operates the lock worn out (they do).

In the majority of cases, the simple soultion would be to reset the car's ECU. As I have never owned an Astra, I'm not sure of this reset procedure is listed in your Owner's Manual.
If it is not an ECU problem, then it's most probably mechanical, in which case, I would NOT start opening the door frame etc etc. It will create more problems than solutions. In this case, all you need to go to your local garage and get them to open it. It's not a big job.
