Hey, I own a Ford Festiva WB that says it was built in 1996, yet it doesn't seem to have a visible OBD port. So I cannot check for fault codes. But my true problem is that when I'm idling, the revs drop off below normal and has sometimes stalled. I believe it's the IAC valve. Help please?

ON FORD cars the IAC valve is EASILY removed for cleaning up they JAMB up with engine sludge and can no LONGER fine tune the AIR part of injection. CLean the THROTTLE BODY as well here! Use SEAFOAM and gumout spray. then run BOTH cleaners through yoru PCV vavle to clena carbon from O2 sensors and converter guts> GOOD LUCK!!

I suggest that the idle speed needs to be reset. There is an idle setting screw on, or near the carburetter.

With the engine running, please reset the idle screw by slowly turning it, until the idle speed goes up, if the engine stalls, you are turning the idle screw the wrong way.

Once you have correctly set the idle speed, all the other symptoms should go away.

There is also the rule, that you should always try the simple things first.

check in front footwell side pillar base behind trim for a port. a small removable cover is fitted over it.

very much sounds like the idle speed control valve sticking ( very common) this I think is called the iac valve in usa markets. replacement is only lasting fix. otherwise check for air vacuum leaks on inlet side and fuel pressure issues or blocked breather tubes.

take the idle air control sensor off and clean it, it,s probably sticking !
