Ethanol is nothing more than soured grain, so what stops people from making their own fuel?

My ol' gran pappy used to make "ethanol" back in the hills until the revenuers caught up with him. The BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) may still have something to say about the home production of alcohol in amounts that you would need to fuel an automobile.

I think it's best to leave it up to the experts = ) Plus it's corn turned into alchohol mixed with gasoline and I don't care to take the time and energy to turn corn into alchohol then mix it with the right amount of gasoline = )

They acctually sell kits now for people who want to. You can make your own....not sure exactly what the process consists of but a friend told my husband and i about it and bought the kit and does it.
