1984 Corvette running problem. ?

yes, one day i went to work it was running strong but it was desperatly in need of a tune up, i was going to do it myself, however my grandfather is a big worrier and wouldnt let me do it by myself, i"m on 16. so he paid 250$ to have this "Chevy guy" do a tune up on it. This consisted of oil change, new wires, spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap. ANYWAYS i put gas in it then it just wanted to die right then and there had trouble starting it, and it was bogging and wanting to stall just driving it home. My grandfather put STP fuel injector cleaner in their the day before, but it did not have a full tank like recommended and it sat for some time. Anyways we had the guy do the tune up thinking thats what it was. It stall ran Really ruff, and when you wanted to give it gas nothing would happen and you would hear a click in the front like the injectors popping or something? i drove it to school and my brother followed me and he said it smelled bad gas wise, my guess is that it was the fuel pump, or fuel filter. I went cheap and bought an air filter (it needed that) and a fuel filter installed it and it still ran the same. Next i bought a air sensor and map sensor, installed them both it still ran like it was out of time, when you stomp on the gas it wont go no were and it will just kick and sputter and then will almost like stall and then you will here that "click" noise. I think the guy crossed the wires or something.. idk im in need of some help guys? my grandpa said he knows what hes doing, and there is a small vacuum leak the guy said, im buying some line for it. i want to replace all the vacuum line i hope this is the problem? i went threw new tanks of gas so the stp is flushed out of the system. ANSWERS PLEASE!!!!!!!! any diagrams or info on where all the vacuum line is would be appreciated! (also the map sensor line was corroded but we cut it off and started new.)

Just fyi - Fuel injector cleaner can destroy Corvette injectors. Though just once won't do it... Check out www.corvetteforum.com and navigate to the "C4" section. Those guys are wizards.

Ask them about the "mustang injectors"

Though this is a crossfire injection car, I'm not totally familiar with the injector setup on it.

I still think you need to measure the fuel pressure. The fuel pressure readings will indicate what is happening and whether it is the pump, regulator, injectors or not a fuel related problem at all. The fuel pressure readings will point you in the correct troubleshooting direction. Before buying any more electrical parts, I would first retrieve the diagnostic codes from the ECM and then check the fuel pressure.

Use the diagnostic feature of your car. Put the fused jumper in pins A and B of the ALCL connector and see what codes are stored in the ECM memory. This will cause the 'Service Engine Soon' lamp to flash the stored codes. The codes will flash as a two digit number three times and then move to the next code. Put the jumper in and turn the ignition on/engined off. The 'Service Engine' light will flash once, then a short pause then flash twice for code 12, which means it is in test mode. This will happen two more times then there will be a longer pause then the next code. For example, code 32 would be flash, flash flash, pause, flash flash.

Just fyi - Fuel injector cleaner are able to damage Corvette injectors. Though just as soon as will not do it... Check out corvetteforum website and navigate to the "C4" section. Those guys tend to be wizards. Ask them about the "mustang injectors" Though this is a crossfire injection car, I'm not completely acquainted with the injector setup on it.

you have a badly leaking injector (or two) which is flooding a cylinder (or two) and making the bad gas smell. Driving it like this will very quickly clog your cat converter which will make it quit running altogether.

Go see a different "chevy man" because both your Gmpa and he are old school ho-rod people and do not know the breeding that goes into corvette technology, nor electronic engine management as per the "guessing" you guys did by buying the map sensor.

"smelling like gas" does not indicate bad vacuum lines, which makes your idle higher than normal.
