The VW bug came with Continental tires, but I already have a flat on a front tire at 15k miles.

A flat is a flat and has nothing to do with the product. But given your two choices I'd stay with Continental. German tire for a German car!

Pirelli's are more of a performance tire which would be good for a VW. A Goodyear Eagle GT-HR is a great tire also for VW's, they were designed mainly for them.

I got a bug too, and I read somewhere that Continental are the perfect match for the car!

first check what the maker suggests (go on line ) the reason is because the suspension was set up for the Tyre they used , unless the set up has been altered before you bought the car , then go on line and ask the Tyre maker what they recommend .answer from UK

I vote for Michelin tires.
