Question:
Why do guys put dual exhaust on V6 trucks?

I always see 80's Ford Rangers with custom cat-back systems and probably either glass packs or performance mufflers. I don't get why people put $500+ custom dual exhaust systems on V6 trucks when it doesn't even sound that cool, and gains like 8hp. Some of them sound OK, but not nearly as good as a V8 with the same system.

To make an already crappy motor sound even worse. Why do ricers put fart cans on 4 cylinders?

Most of them would answer you with a resounding, "because we can." Maybe their wives forbid them to get new trucks, so they have to work with the truck they got...

They are not put on for sound. Any car which is considered a "performance" car will have dual exhaust. When you go for more power, you have to obtain increases in horsepower anywhere you can. Dual exhaust will decrease back-pressure allowing your engine to dispel exhaust gases faster and easier, and you will receive an incease in HP.

Now-a-days everyone takes their car to a muffler shop for dual exhaust and new mufflers. No one does it themselves anymore. I have worked on cars for over 50 years and we did it all ourselves. We split the manifold and put on flex-pipe. At that time, mufflers were not welded on. All you would need was a small larger pipe, 2 pipe clamps, a couple slits in the pipe and then clamp them down.

However, instead of splitting your manifold for dual exhaust, purchase Headers.

it makes more since to put a dual on a v6 the a 4 banger cause at least with a v6 you duel exhaust manifolds unless its a straight six or inline six then it would be pointless

Because its a little truck and it has a V6 in it.

That is one of the vehicles that has some fanatical followers.

If it's what they like let them do it, it's their choice after all.
