The sky is the limit...you can spend as much as you want, but a lot depends on what you are wanting to do with it. its all about parts combinations you can come out relatively cheap if you use the right combination of parts another factor is how much durability you will have. You could easily build it for a couple grand but you may sacrifice durability to do it cheap.

It seems like a few years back I was reading a Hotrod Magazine article about building a budget 327 with 500 ponies, it seems like they got it together for under a grand but I cant remember exactly, I'm sure that it probably had an unhealthy shot of nos and some serious timing changes to avoid grenading the engine when the juice was flowing. good luck and have fun!

the most i have gotten from a 327 was bout 400 no bottle. but i didn't go all out either. if you use a good top of the line rotating assembly like scat or eagle then do that and have them balanced. and use forged pistons that you can spray it id you want. pick out a good set of aluminum racing heads like world products or merlin and have the valves sized properly to match well with the cam you choose and the intake and carb. it is possible to do without the bottle. just talk to whomever is going to build it and have them help you with part selection. also check jegs.com and summitracing.com
