Question:
This strange message about Start Stop appears when my car stalls?

So I have a 2013 Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost (125PS). So when I stall the car, I hear a chime and the message "Auto StartStop Manual restart required" appears on the information display. I looked at the manual for more info about this message and it means that the system is not functioning. I don't get why it is saying this because Start - Stop works fine. Is this a problem with the Start - Stop system?

There is not a problem with the system.

It is just a message to make sure you know that the car's engine has stopped because you have stalled it, not because the stop/start system has stopped it, and that therefore it won't restart automatically as it would have if the system had stopped it.

I don t know this particular system but I suspect the logic is that because you stalled it rather than that the system stopped it you will have to restart it yourself. In normal service, so to speak, the system would know that it stopped the engine as a part of its function and would be ready to restart it. It s probably fine.

No - this is a safety system to prevent auto restart when the nut behind the steering wheel has inadvertently stalled the car and they may well not be in a position where it should be restarted - like dead, in a ditch with the car for example
