Where is the o2 sensor in 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic?

I am just asking anyone that knows any mechanical knowledge. Does CHECK ENGINE light mean the o2 sensor or fuel filter is plugged up? The engine is running fine, but the light came on 3 days ago. So I just wanted to know where the o2 sensor is. What is the possibility that caused the CHECK ENGINE light to come on?

The o2 sensors are in the exhaust system. I doubt that is why the cel is coming on, that would be very rare. As far a possibilities:

i actually know exactly what the problem is, though im not sure if they have been able to completely fix it. the problem is in the ECU, the computer for your car, sometimes it forgets the key is on, and shuts the car down, my girlfriend's car does this sometimes, and its a 2002? it had to do with a programming bug, but it wasnt major enough to have a recall. it affected only a small percentage. ask them to replace the ECU, which is around... 150 to 300 bucks. better than the injectors like the other guy said, they run around 200 each. you need 6. the computer wont read a code because the engine light doesnt come on. try the ECU and it should fix your problem.

The o2 sensor is somewhere in the exhaust system.

Go to an autozone and have them test it to see a few vague possibilities, or pay the money and have a shop diagnose the problem.
