I have a 2000 GMC sierra 1500 with a 5.3L

The exhaust on my truck is completely stock except for a flowmaster muffler. Recently my driver side catalytic converter has broken something loose and rattles incredibly loud when ever my RPM s rise. I have O2 sensors in front and after both my cats. I would rather just delete my cats and weld a pipe in their place, instead of buying expensive replacement cats. It is not Illegal where I live to delete them and i don t have emission tests. please how can I do this with out throwing a code? Thanks!

Cut out and replace with pipe, loads of people have done without problems. If you happen to have problems you can put a new one in later. Since you don't have inspections as long as your truck is not annoyingly loud no one will ever look. You may want a 50 series without a cat.

Actually, it's illegal in all 50 states to remove emission control components. Emission testing is irrelevant.

You cannot do it. It will throw a code.

It will throw a code and cause problems, and it is a $10K federal crime. Sounds like a loose shield to me.

replace it or the cel will be on so long that it blows out. low cat efficiency will be the problem.

Buy a dog.
