hot wiring your car -> identifying the wires?

If you were to hot wire your car and didn't have the manual to consult the color code, what would be some ways to identify which wires are {power} and {starter}? If you were to cut all wire pairs and attempt different combinations, would that result in imminent failure? (knowing the different pairs correspond to different key positions)

The power wires are typically red. Cutting the 2 heavy gage red wires and stripping the ends and then twisting the ends together will enable the ignition system just like turning the ignition switch to the ON position. Identifying the starter wire (or wires) is not so easy without the color code because there is no "typical" color for the starter wire or wires. My vehicle only has 1 starter wire and it is purple. So to hotwire my vehicle I would cut the 2 heavy gage red wires and strip the ends and then twist the ends together to enable the ignition system and then I would cut and strip the purple wire and touch it to the twisted together red wires to engage the starter. But some ignition switches have 2 starter wires, one in and one out. If there are two starter wires, cut and strip them and then just touch them together to engage the starter. Or if you can identify the out wire, cut and strip it and touch it to the twisted together red wires to engage the starter. Here is a video which might help you:

dont know why you would want to do this other than stealing a car but

just saying ignition is bad you can just take the ignition out of the holder there sould be to bolts and then you can just start the car with screwdriver from the whole in the ignition holder
