I have a 97 cadillac deville and my heater/ac went out. What causes the heater to stop workin would the compressor be a suspect or the fans

Only a couple of possibilities. Could be a bad heater control valve, bad or clogged heater core, or a defective (stuck) thermostat.
If it's just the fan you're referring to, it may be a burnt out fuse or burnt out blower motor.

U prefer to evade doin it yet a pair of cases won't harm it any. I had a mazda rx8 that become top class basically yet I have been given tight on money and placed common in for like 2 weeks no longer something happend. The worst which will take place is a few knocking on your engine and it won't burn as sparkling.

Your car is screaming for a flush and fill of coolant. By now, you probably have gelatin and sludge inside the swhole system. I recommend the use of MERCEDES YELLOW coolant, because it will NOT gel up or toxify with time. Otherwise, trust a GM dealer to it right, but ask them to use different coolant.

May also be low on engine coolant.
