Parking lights, blinkers, back-up lights and headlights work fine. But in the past week after i got a new battery for my car the brake lights stopped working. I checked the fuses, what i can check anyways cause i dont have the fuse panel so i dont know what fuse goes where but all the fuses are fine. The brake light switch looks fine and is moving when i press the brakes but it still stays off. Any recommendations? Could it be the ground wire or something? Im not big on cash so any do-it-yourself methods would be great.

Also both of the head lights work but only one of the brights work and there are only about half of the fuses that should be in the fuse box in there, so does anyone has a pictures of the 1988 fuse panel? Cause the repair guide i have for the car doesnt have the same fuse panel in the book as i do for some reason, so i dont know what kind of fuses go where.

as per my experience, the older toyotas are getting the green disease in the wiring. follow every wire from the lights forward through every connector, i'm sure u'll find a bad ground or a corroded terminal somewhere that needs to be cleaned and reconnected that could explain your head light problem as well. go to your mechanic and ask him for a wiring diagram and maybe some TSB's about where there may be some relocated grounds and that kind of thing. good luck

If you have a multi meter you can check for voltage/ grounding. It's a possibility that the wire is open somewhere. I will try to see if I can find a fuse panel picture for you also.

There is a spring bringing the pedal back up to the original home position. This may be loose. You may also try looking at the light switch located above the pedal. This may be loose. Of course, you may need something like replacing some brake cable if you are mechanically inclined. OR, Take it to a mechanic to be checked and repaired.
