Those older GM cars had the key with the exposed chip kind of sticking out side to side. Inside the ignition are two tiny wires that, when your key is inserted, make a complete circuit so your car will start. I have seen in the past where these wires just get worn from use and out of the blue the car will do exactly what you are describing without warning, I'd try a new key first provided your battery and starter are good or known good. Hope this helps.

You probably have the 3.8 engine in there. These engines were notorious for their weakened oil pressure relief valves. If you have been using conventional oils and not changed oil at proper intervals, you probably have gunked up the seals inside the relief valve or in the oil pressure sensor. Doing a motor flush may help things out and restore the operation of the relief valve. You might try adding Risolone (a high detergent oil) to your crankcase and hope for the best. Other than that, it's a fairly meaty chore to remove the oil pan and oil pump for replacement.
