The head gasket has blown, water entering the cylinders, major engine work.

Unless you've put water where the oil goes.

Your 2005 Nissan Sentra with the 1.8 liter engine has an oil capacity of 2.9 quarts.

5W-30 is the recommended grade of oil for your engine.

Yeah as mentioned TRANSMISSION oil is for the gear box and not the engine.

I found a tutorial article with every spec needed. But it doesn't have pics. You can take a look.

(Different motor but I guess principally the same)

Without more info, It sure appears you have two problems. The white from your exhaust is likely steam not smoke. If there is enough liquid in your oil system to raise the level, STOP- do not start that car again. You immediately need to drain the engine or risk destroying it.

If the "smoke" is from another source, we'll good, you changed the oil a second time for no reason. Certainly cheap insurance. Evidence of water in the oil is the oil will appear tan and opaque, not clear as it was when you put it in.

After verifying you don't have an engine about to kick the bucket- you can worry about the possible transmission problems.

Hello, The white smoke your describing is customarily water being evapourated from your exhaust as timbo and Alan T suggest. Simple consultant is if you walk out to a cold morning and have condensation on the out aspect of your home windows and bodie work u,ll have condensation in side your exhuast until the metallic warms up. The next step is check your coolant stage on your over waft tank/headertank.If its low high it up to just below the max mark, and mark this degree with a pen or little bit of tape.Power it for a couple of days to position some miles on the vehicle an keep a watch on it. If it drops rather a lot in a short while you in most cases have a head gasket difficulty. Next you don,t say wot dimension the container of oil used to be.If it used to be only a litre then it wouldn't be amazing to wish it all.Check the dipstick via wiping it smooth of oil then reinserting it to provide you with a greater thought of the level. Do not forget these should be accomplished when vehicle is level and better when bloodless. Final you point out that temp rises when your stationary (utterly traditional after a few minutes) but falls to the last bar (might be simply above the blue) when driving. You will have a caught open thermostat ( no longer a significant high-priced job to do) but as winter comes your engine won't get to optimal temp and the within of your vehicle can be difficult to warm up and you'll be able to struggle to demist your windscreen. A liittle trick to verify this final point is take a section of card board and part duvet 1/2 the front of the radiator. Pressure the auto as average for a bit of at the same time (20 mins to get it warm on a coldish day) If temp needle rises towards center of th guage and stays there as it will have to then you definitely ought to suppose a couple of new thermostat.

check the trans fluid, i have seen transmissions get drain and oil go on top ofd oil, explains why it wont move,,, no trans fluid and smoke is from to much oil, light blue can look white as coolant looks when burning.... i would check both levels and adjust accordingly

? ? ? ? ? Oil changes whoudl NOT affect the TRANSMISSION! ARe you sure you put the oil in the RIGHT PLACE??? Did you drain the TRANNY by mistake??? BETER CHECK IT OUT! SOUND like you drained out the TRANS fluid if this is an AUTOMATIC!
