I've bought a new car (which is a huge deal for me), and I want to stay on top of maintenance like a fanatic.

In my last car, I used supertech, and it lasted 10 years with no issues, and didn't burn oil at all.

Is there really any difference between the cheap walmart oil, and the big named conventional oil? They are both rated API SM, which is what my manual calls for.

There is WAY more to proepr oil chaoices than BERAND Names adn viscoisity ratings!!! READ your manual about SPEC NUMBERS! The RIGHT oil for you will have the NAME of your CARMAKER printed on the lable. REG oil ALWAYS makes sludge in side an engien because it is made mostlyl by the WAX REDUCTION method. As time goes by the oil returns to BRA+OWN WAX And coatings that it came from. SYNHT Oil has LOLONGER molecules that OCOAT beraings, adn prevent COD START fatigue on engien beraings, when MOST engine wear occurs. MOBIL ONE is the FACTORY fill oill on MANY of the best cars out there. AVLOLINE is NOT the facgtory fill on ANY CAR< and lives mostly by a FALSE repuptation earned in the 50;s someplace It is made by the ASHLAND company and when tested contains lot of, well, ASH in it! MOIBL ONE 0W series oils are the best protection you can aSK FOR AND YOU ONLY NEED TO CHANGE IT once EACH YEAR. amsoil< ANOTEHR GReat ENGINE oil need changing once a uyear or every 25,ooo miles! HOW BOUT THAT!!! SYNTH oil PROTECTS your seals from leaking and WIL NNOT MAKES SLDUGE on SEAL lips or gasket surfaces. it CLEANS the rings as you drive and you can expect the neigne to last 4 times LOGNER with it! I have TESTED this MYSELF or you can search OILBOB's web sites WHAT KIND OF CAR do you hae NOW?? And what did you have BEFORE! IT all makes a BIG difference. FINALLY gm mkaes DEXOS oil a cheaper form of MOBIL ONE Oil that is SYNTHETIC and will keep MOST gm engine alive longer. PLEASE read your MANUAL about SEPC NUBMERS, and never get duped into using GENERIC Oils with similar VISCOSITY ratings. Even NON detergent oil can meet the SMALLEST ratings. SN Oil is ONE STEP BETTER, but once again CHECK those SPEC NUMBERS, please and WHAT kind of car are we dealing with here??

Supertech is what I use in my car. It is 20 years old and has 332,000 miles on it and runs great. Supertech is made by Conoco. When you buy the name-brand oil you are just financing their race cars and advertising.

It doesn't matter what brand it is.
