I have a 84 ford f150 with a 87 4.9l 300 FI engine that was converted to carb with the 84 parts. I went to oriely and bought autolite 5125 plugs because they didnt have motorcraft plugs. I was told by the guy that he doesnt think autolites are that great and that he trys not to sell them but anyway I bought them. I read the reviews online and some people say they suck others say they are okay. I retured them to oriely and bought champion spark plugs from fleet farm part number rf14lc copper plugs, they arnt even the champion truck plugs. As I returned autolite the plugs the girl told me that champions are not that great for trucks and she doesnt reccomend them, she said they are mostly made for recreational vehicles. She said that I should put autolites or motorcraft plugs In my truck. Im not sure If I should keep these champion plugs or If I should return these champions and buy autolites again. Which one would be better champion or autolites. I cant find motorcraft In a couple stores around me, are autolites Just as good as motorcraft and should I put them In my ford or should I put the champions In though. I have read other threads about a one piece or two piece plugs. Has anyone used the autolite 5125 plugs, how did they work.

Motorcraft and Autolite are the SAME IDENTICAL PLUG because they are made in the same place. I feel VERY strongly about spark plug choices. The right plugs can save your money in fuel, and create more power, and lower emissions. The WRONG plugs just go along for the ride!!! GM plugs are the very worst! They are not even included in valid spark plug testing. CHAMPIONS openly exist as a matter of courtesy, they REALLY do nothing. They do NOT even peerform all that well in lawn mowers. The best plugs come form Germany and Japan. SPlit fire plugs are CHAMPION plugs with a little bit of steroid added, but are STILL JUNK< because they are made from copper and NO precious metals. If you want REAL preformance. smoothness, and better MPG"S then you should use Bosch Platinum, Fusion or Denso iridium plugs in that engine. Make SURE that your carb is 100% correct, because their only possible deficit is that they are vulnerable to excess carbon build-up. They will fire through ANY temperature, and coo loff and are ready for the next sparking. Regular plugs are like dinosaur boat anchors that can;'t even get out of their own way. Most so-called American plugs are no longer made here, anyway. They are NOT worth supporting, and only cost engine troubles with excess carbon build-up. READ the sprak plug tests on the internet. They will OPEN YOUR EYES!! The better the plug, the longer your O2 sensors, expensiv exhuast sytem, and even MORE expensive converter will last. GOOD LUCK!!

I have used autolites for 35 plus years and with the exception of an occasional dead plug for the most part I have had them in old beaters to some big block muscle cars with built 440 pumping 450 hp and never had any problems except the time I set the gap at 35 thousands, on the 440 thinking I had points in the distributor (but it had been converted to electronic which is 45 thousands. I fried the center electrode before I caught it , but once I changed the plug and gapped them correctly my charger would light the tires up clear down the block until I let off the gas. So autolights are going to work fine in almost anything, so stick a set of plugs in there and forget about them for the next 50 thousand miles and make your life easier, champion, has never been a good spark plug.

I would use NEITHER plugs. Autolite and motorcraft are the SAME THING! Champion plugs are old technolgy that cannot keep up with the rest of the world. Use BOSCH Fusion or Denso IRidium plugs. They have better construction and chemically react with fuel and produce the most power from each charge of fuel. READ the spark plug tests on the internet if you don;'t believe me. Delco plugs are NOT even tested anymore! MOTORCRAFT can ONLY be found at the FORD dealership. Copper plugs are JUNK< they do NOT dissipate heat or chemically react with fuel like precious metal plugs do. Even AUTOLITE makes iridium plugs, but their shell design and metal choices are just NOT as good as the ones I recommend.

don't know for sure about autolite 5125 but my antique john deere A tractor wouldn't run and an old friend of the family said to pitch the champions and get autolites in it. I did it and that solved the problem. note that the champions were brand new also. I would go with the autolites everytime. Just my opinion.

Use the autolites they are good plugs.

I have dyno tested and or track tested just about every plug known to man and my tests keeps me running and installing autolite, NGK V power or AC Delco spark plugs.

In my 600 HP (well 596 HP dynoed) chevy I run Autolite plugs

I don't care what Robert says, the ones he mentioned are good for LONG LIFE in fuel injected newer cars but they have never dynoed better or ran down the 1/4 mile as good as an autolite, ngk V power or ac delco in any car I have tested.. Then again I don't test front wheel drive cars or 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engines

Depending on what your using your vehicle for plays an important factor in choosing plugs.

Ie If you were using nitrous you would want a colder plug with a smaller gap.

Forced induction would also require a similar plug.

For daily driving Auto lites will work just as good as motor craft and Champion.

Its personal preference as far as brand's, some are better than others but not by much.

Champion plugs are terrible. Many of Champion part numbers come from off-shore suppliers. Stick to Motorcraft, Denso or NGK.
