Question:
Rear View mirror won't stay adjusted?
2007-09-01 23:29:56 UTC
I have a '05 Pontiac G6, during the day it gets to about 110
degrees. I noticed that when it's hot outside, my rear view mirror won't stay adjusted, but instead keeps pointing downward until the car cools up (I turn the AC vents up pointing at the mirror to cool it.) I also use a "sun shield" across the window and covering the mirror, but it doesn't help.

This is aggravating since it takes awhile to cool a hot car, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? Also, I believe the temperature outside was the same as last year, but I didn't have this problem until recently.

Any thoughts, advice or help?

Thanks in advance.

First, make sure the set screw that tightens the mirror base to the windshield plate is tight. If the problem persists, the ball and swivel is loose and your best bet is a replacement mirror. Less than $35.00 at most auto parts stores.

I had an old Honda and a very similar problem. The rear view mirror was broken inside the socket and would not stay adjusted. Get a new mirror replacement.

replace with new one from your local parts store like autozone or advance auto parts or o'rielly's or napa
