I have seen a spark plug near the exhaust end and also a second hookup to a propane tank which would be turned on first then ignited with the spark. Be very careful

Headers and straight pipes (no muffler, catalytic converter, bends). That will make a 440 (maybe smaller) spit flames at high rpm. Maybe a performance camshaft and higher compression. A blower (supercharger) might do the trick with high boost and straight pipes.

In the fifties, they welded a threaded boss into a hole in the tailpipe, threaded in a sparkplug, and ran a wire and switch to one of the sparkplug wires...if you ran the mixture a little rich, you could flip the switch, and shoot a long gassy flame....

Hook up a spark plug in your tail pipe to burn excess gas fumes.
