It was 94 out yesterday and My AC would work and blow kinda cold air for a few minutes then turn to warm (outside air). Looked and the compressor was not turning anymore. But does turn when the car is just started up. The Ac seems to work at temperatures from 70-85 degrees out it works good then once it hits in the 90s the compressor quits turning getting hot air. Vents blow fine, played with the inside gauges everything is fine there. Check refrigerant and everything good. What could this be?

check magnetic clutch relay

check thermistor

check your car ECU

the problem is one of those

What is happening is you don't have quite enough freon in your system. The amount you have puts it right on the border line whereas your high pressure switch is cutting the compressor clutch on and off.

The engineers have made it a no brainer to charge as the valve sizes are different from the low side to the high side. The low side where you need to hook it up will be a line running from your compressor to the receiver drier tank. Some manufacturers put the valve right on the receiver tank.

Just add one can of R134A to the low side while the engine is running and the A/C is on. You can purchase the can and hose sets at any parts store. That should get your A/C running full time once again.

Make sure the fan at the front of the car comes on when you start the AC.

If the fan doesn't come on, especially in hot weather you could be cycling on the high pressure safety.

Hot outside temperatures increase the pressure in the AC system.

How did you check the refrigerant?

BTW, if you listen to dwayne f you will blow you fingers off when the can explodes. The dryer/receiver is on the high pressure side, so please don't use the valve located on the drier.

you should have an ac pressure sensor/cycling switch on one of the ac lines or near the drier. you could have a bad or falty unit and that is what tell the ac compressor to kick on and off. also you have in some cases a thermister on the ac evap in the dash.

also your ac system couldbe freezing up and that would explain the cold then hot or work then not work problem.

get car checked by an ac tech and see what they say..
