Question:
Replacing Transmission Mounts On My Car?
2014-05-04 18:36:58 UTC
I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu with the 3100 V6, and I know all the transmission mounts and motor mounts are bad. Now my question is, there are 2 different transmission mount options on auto-zones website. The rubber circle looking "insert" and the whole piece including the bracket and all. But that is a lot more expensive. So after I remove the old mount and bracket, can I get the old rubber "circle rubber piece" out, or do I have to replace it all? I tried googling it and could not find anything. But it looks to me that since autozone sells just the rubber piece that I should be able to remove the old rubber piece and install the new one. I'm sorry this isn't well written and is so long! Thanks so much for any help!!

You will nave absolutely no problem buying the correct motor mounts at a Chevrolet Dealer's Parts Counter. You don't need Auto Zones off-shore junk car parts.

If rest of motor mount is in good shape the rubber or neoprene donuts are ok. If on other hand if motor mounts are really beat up you will need to replace entire unit.

I've had short life with the inserts lifetimewarranty isn't worth the labor time..

Rockauto.com has mounts for about 1/3 the price of zone.

my techs used bad words when our parts people would order inserts...
